Marcelo Medel: Managing Director’s End of the Year Greetings

December 19, 2022

As the year comes quickly to an end, I would like to thank and congratulate the Duratray International teams in South Africa, Canada, the United States, Chile and especially in Australia for taking the company to new horizons and maintaining the quality of work that has always characterised us.

So much happened in 2022; we opened our new office in Canada, recruiting the tremendous professional Ximena Araya as Chief Operations Officer and other team members that have joined along the way.

We launched the Made in Victoria campaign via Duratray dump bodies in the UK, the Democratic Republic of Congo and China with the Made in Victoria stamp, which has put our state of origin in the global eye for mining manufacturing capabilities.

After a two-year hiatus we were finally able to exhibit once more at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC). The exhibition was a great success, welcoming more than 7,000 visitors . Our Australia COO, Steve Hall attended the CIM conference in Canada and in October Steve and myself were back exhibiting at Bauma 2022, the biggest mining and construction machinery trade show in Europe, and one of the largest globally.

Duratray International was finalist at the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards in three categories: Manufacturer of the Year, Leader in Global Supply Chain Partnerships, and Woman Manufacturer of the Year (for our Fabulous CEO, Carolina Hinojosa).

Finally, I was very proud to be recognised by the Brisbane Junior Chamber of Commerce as the 2022 Manager of the Year in August and to be recognised by the Junior Chamber International as one of the Top Outstanding Young Persons Honourees in Australia in October.

Happy end-of-the-year holidays and a prosperous New Year!
