Managing Director as one of the Top Outstanding Young Persons Honourees

Updated: Dec 19, 2022

In September, Managing Director Marcelo Medel was recognised by the Junior Chamber International, Australia as a National Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Honouree in the category of Business, economic and/or entrepreneurial accomplishment.

Each year the Junior Chamber International (JCI) runs the TOYP program to formally recognise young people who excel in their chosen fields and exemplify the best attributes of the world's young people.

Since 1983, JCI has honoured nearly 300 individuals from 57 nations. Past recipients of national awards include such well-known personalities as John F. Kennedy, Henry Kissinger, Elvis Presley, Jackie Chan, Wayne Gretzky and many more, all named before the age of 40 and before they had achieved national prominence.

Honourees selected in past years have represented the heights of progress in numerous human endeavours.

Originally from Chile, Marcelo honed his business acumen working for Conymet, a well-established mining equipment manufacturer and service provider in the Chilean mining market. Marcelo's career with Conymet led to the opportunity to oversee the development of Duratray International, Conymet's portfolio in Australia.

Since assuming the Managing Director role in 2016, Marcelo has grown the company 5 times in revenue and profit and expanded its footprint from 20 to 37 countries.

As a 2022 National TOYP Honouree, Marcelo Medel was awarded at the National TOYP Awards Ceremony on October 22nd, during JCI’s National Convention and will attend as an Australian Honouree the 2023 JCI World Congress held in Zurich in November next year.
